Jp-Jee Saa-hib Flashcards is an initiative to reimagine and reinvent the next generation's relationship with Gurbani. lt is a set of 100 flashcards with words and phrases from Jp-jee Saa-hib, each complete with unique artwork and descriptions. They were designed with careful consideration of how sikh bodies are and should be represented. The project also pays close attention to the gendering and Christianizing of Vaahiguruu (i.e. as He and the Lord). The following facets of culture within the Sikh community were considered:



Traditional gender roles

The erasure of articular castes

Preference of lighter skin tones

Anti-blackness

Islamophobia

About Jp-Jee Saa-hib Flashcards

Our first product is a set of 100 flashcards with words and phrases from jpjee saahib. they were designed with careful consideration of how sikh bodies are and should be represented. the following facets of culture within the sikh community were considered:

  • traditional gender roles
  • the erasure of particular castes
  • preference of lighter skin tones
  • antiblackness
  • the erasure of queer and trans Sikhs

 

We also paid close attention to the gendering and christianizing of Vahiguruu i.e. as He and the Lord. we intentionally choose to not use any English words to describe Vahiguruu to highlight the power and significance of the Name itself. we hope you learn and love the product as much as we do!
