🌿 A New Chapter for Khalsa Foundation - Our First-Ever California Sikh Family Retreat!
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
With Maharaj’s kirpa, we are so excited to share that we successfully ran the first-ever California Sikh Family Retreat through the Khalsa Foundation.
Since we began the California Sikh Retreat in 2018, families have consistently expressed one heartfelt wish:
“We want to experience this retreat too.”
Because CSR has an age limit of 13+, many families with younger children were never able to attend together. This year, for the first time, we were finally at the capacity to host a high-quality, impactful Family Retreat.
In past years, we simply did not have enough sevadhaars or funding to make this possible. We have always been committed to running a premier, spiritually immersive retreat experience, something Khalsa Foundation is known for. We never wanted to compromise on quality.
This year, everything aligned:
Enough committed sevadhaars ready to serve
Facilitators who traveled from around the world
Families from across California eager to grow together in Sikhi
The retreat was deeply impactful and beautifully received. Families experienced Sangat, reflection, learning, laughter, and connection together. It was something our community has been waiting for, and it was truly special to witness.

Where We Stand
While the Family Retreat was a huge success spiritually and programmatically, it unfortunately left us with a $5,000 deficit.
Traditionally, it has been our sevadhaars who personally cover these deficits each year and they often range in the thousands of dollars. Their dedication and quiet sacrifices are what have kept these retreats alive.
We cannot run these retreats without the support of donors. Your generosity is what allows this seva to continue sustainably and grow.
And as always, we are already gearing up for our next retreat:
📅 California Sikh Retreat – July 3rd–6th
Registration has just opened!
Apply at: kfcalifornia.org/csr
As many of you know, we consistently run these retreats at a deficit because affordability is a priority for us.
To give you a transparent example:
Camp accommodation this year costs $83 per night
That equals $332 per camper just for lodging
Our starting registration price is $225
This means registration does not even cover the campsite accommodation and that’s before accounting for:
Food costs
Flights for facilitators
Workshop materials & resources
Transportation
Year-round planning and logistics
Scholarships for families in financial need
We intentionally subsidize costs because we know many would struggle to pay the true amount. We also provide scholarships to ensure no seeker is turned away due to finances.
How You Can Support
If you would like to help us close the $5,000 Family Retreat deficit and prepare for July’s retreat which ends up costing $35,000 to $45,000 - please consider donating. We will post the exact financial numbers of costs once retreat is over!
✨ In April, we will also be running a matching donation campaign - every dollar given will be doubled.
Your support allows us to:
Keep registration affordable
Offer scholarships
Reduce the financial burden on sevadhaars
Maintain a premier, high-quality retreat experience
Ensure no one is left behind
Thank you to every donor, sevadhaar, and supporter who has helped carry this seva forward. Because of you, families are growing together in Sikhi.
With gratitude,
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh 💛
