For the past eight years, I've been quietly working on something that's been close to my heart.
Today, I'm incredibly grateful to finally share it with you that a 'Poetic English Translation of Jap Ji Sahib' is now available on YouTube.
After more than twenty years studying Gurbani, I began to realise that so many people deeply love Guru Nanak's words, yet so few truly understand them. They recite it with devotion, but the language barrier often keeps Guru Nanak's wisdom just out of reach.
I kept asking myself: What if someone could deeply experience Jap Ji Sahib in English, not just as another translation, but as poetry? A translation that preserves the beauty, emotion and contemplative nature of the original while speaking in language that people today can genuinely understand.
That question became an eight-year journey. Every verse has been carefully crafted, refined and revisited countless times. My hope was to create a translation that moved from recitation to understanding, reflection and personal transformation.
The response over the past few days has been deeply moving. Lifelong Sikhs have told me they finally understood verses that they've recited for years. Parents have shared that they can now experience Jap Ji Sahib with their children. Others, with little knowledge of Guru Nanak, have said this translation has opened the door to a wisdom they never knew existed.
It's also been a privilege to speak on a number of podcasts recently, sharing the vision behind this project and introducing new audiences to Guru Nanak's timeless teachings.
Thank you to everyone who has encouraged our team, supported this project and believed in the vision long before it became a reality. A special thank you to @manika.kaur, @rishi_handa @millanhanda and @dasvandhnetwork.
If you haven't listened yet, I'd love for you to experience it and if it moves you, please share it with someone who has always wanted to understand Jap Ji Sahib more deeply.
