WHAT: Start a dialogue and appeal to all Takhats and Gurdwaras in Punjab for Organic Langar and Organic Farming on Gurdwara lands and support Punjabi farmer with chemical-free farming and financial growth.
WHY: EcoSikh has been promoting Nanak’s Way of Farming aka organic farming and healthy lifestyle in Punjab. Our recent success stories include Golden Temple switched to Organic Langar and Akhand Kirtani Jatha served organic langar on Vaisakhi. To increase the farmer interest and help the demand-supply of organic food in Punjab, we are working with farmers to establish and support organic farming practices.
Washington based EcoSikh and its team in Jalandhar has appealed to all Sikh Takhats and Gurdwaras to start serving pesticide-free, nutritious Organic langar. This step will help to stop the disastrous pollution of Punjab’s land and water due to over usage of pesticides and chemicals. The tradition of langar since the time of Gurus was to provide nutritious and healthy food to underprivileged and downtrodden. Mata Khivi ji (Guru Angad Dev ji’s wife) always focused on promoting health besides making langar a major tool to practice and promote equality. EcoSikh Global President, Dr. Rajwant Singh stated, “Organic langar is a win-win situation for the Gurdwara committee, for sangat and for the farmers. It’s a long term initiative to improve health of Punjabis and their land.” See our previous campaigns for organic langar here.
