We’re excited to share that the Sikh Camp Safety Project is ready to launch and disseminate.
After months of communicating with passionate organizers, counselors, and parents, we’ve created a thoughtful, practical, and community-informed safety toolkit for Sikh youth camps. This guide is built to support camps in strengthening protocols around physical and emotional safety, equity, non-discrimination, abuse, accountability, and more.
From a camp counselor: “I come to camp to do seva for a week and hang out with my friends… I’m only 19, how am I supposed to know how to properly care for a child?”
From a camp organizer: “Last year, we had a scare with a mental health issue (depression/suicidal ideation) and it made us as directors realize that we needed to have systems for the future.”
From a parent: “I have difficulty trusting that Sikh Youth Camps are secure enough for me to send my daughters.”
Now we need your help to bring our work to life. We are preparing to release the toolkit this summer, and we need support to disseminate it directly to camps and sangats across the country.
Your contributions will allow us to continue to travel to camps, conduct safety trainings, and ensure that sangats across the country have access to this resource—not just as a document, but the living commitment to the care and safety of our little Khalsas.

If you'd like to bring this resource to your local camp or support its rollout, we'd love to hear from you. Your support can help us meet Sikh camps and retreats where they are, offering tools, training, and guidance rooted in care. Together, we can ensure the Camp Safety resources help you camps grow stronger, safer, and more nurturing for every little Khalsa. Email us: contact@sikhfamilycenter.org

Thank you for walking the talk and showing our kids a community grounded in equity, gender justice, mental wellness, and trauma recovery!
