Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh!
Mission:
Sikh Human Rights Group (SHRG), is an NGO with ECOSOC Special Consultative Status at the United Nations since 2015. SHRG engages and promotes perspectives on global issues based on the principles and worldviews of GurSikhi at the international, national and local levels.
SHRG's work is inspired by ethics of pluralism and diversity, a cosmocentric approach to environment, ecosystems and climate change, human rights, responsibilities and duties, and the alleviation of poverty and hunger.
Your support helps us to research and send advocates to United Nations conferences and policy forums. Your support also ensures that our seva programs and field work can continue.
International Advocacy:
Sikh Human Rights Group was formed in 1985. Its early focus was on Punjab related issues. SHRG's work achieved investigations of human rights violations, change in policy and law in India, and assisted Asylum cases in major western countries.
During and after the 1993 UN World Conference on Human Rights in Vienna, SHRG also started to work on broader international issues that connect Sikhs with global communities and countries around the world. The phrase “Pluralism, Dignity and Biodiversity” encapsulates this ideal.
SHRG has participated in many international conferences, particularly since 2015 as it has access to most UN venues, conferences and deliberations. It has regularly attended Human Rights Council in Geneva, the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP), as well as High Level Political Forums at the UN at New York.
Donations Help Cover:
Your support ensures that Sikh Human Rights Group can take the Sikh perspective through advocates, professionals and technicians to the United Nations and other international conferences. We connect with global communities through global issues and institutions for mutual benefits. Your support also helps to cover the costs of official side events that Sikh Human Rights Group hosts at the United Nations.
As an organization which is supported by sangat, your contributions are most appreciated. Our annual operational costs are $100,000, and we are looking to meet a starting goal of $10,000 through sangat.
