We are proud to announce our successful wrap up of SikhLEAD Regional 2025 DC & Regional Summer Internship Program, which ran from June 7 - Aug 9, 2025! Adhering to our program’s theme this year of “SEVA inspired Leadership”, we had a few new exciting firsts:
9 College/Career prep workshops led by SikhLEADers in PA, IL, NC, CT, CA and MA
8 Seva Clinics at Gurdwaras in CA, NJ and WI through our ongoing collaboration with Sikh Health Network (SHN)
Hosted Tech entrepreneur - Harjinder Sandhu, Delegate JJ Singh and Tandeep Kaur (SikhLEAD Alumni) to speak at our DC in-person Seva-inspired Leadership Summit on August 12th with 130+ attendees (SikhLEADers and their families)
Artful presentation by our Cohort for our new partners and APA fellows - Dr Poojajeet Khaira and Dr. Avneet Soin based on the topic of Mental health - Healing with Helping
Our cohort members interviewed, matched, and worked at prestigious Internships, from Sikh partner organizations such as: the Dasvandh Network (DVN), and Sikh Parent Association, to diverse partner organizations such as: CAAPIA, United Sikh Movement, Umeed and ALHF. Throughout our Summer programming, our Cohort had the pleasure of listening and asking questions to the following prominent speakers: Kulvir Singh Gill (SikhRI), Sikhs in Creative Seva Panel, Sikh Elected Officials Panel, and completing the program with Internship reflections and Seva Project presentations.
Our 2025 DC cohort has engaged in dialogue with prominent speakers through our Summer programming, such as Gurinder Singh Josan and Kirith Entwistle, two Members of Parliament from the UK, leaders at the APA Foundation, Sikh lawyers such as Harmann Singh, and Sikh nonprofit leaders like Navdeep Singh. Through our programming, our interns are exploring what it means to be a Sikh professional in DC, and the different sectors that they can make an impact in. They are being exposed to key policy issue areas that are community needs future advocates in, like mental health.
We also had our SikhLEADers put on Langar on the Hill, our annual event on Capitol Hill that brings together lawmakers, congressional staff, nonprofit leaders, and the Sikh American community. We served langar to over 120 attendees and educated them on Sikhi and the importance of Sikh American presence in policymaking spaces. Our SikhLEADers played a key role in the program by contributing heavily to the planning and execution. By leading Ardaas and serving Langar, they showed all that Sikh Americans belong in Capitol Hill, a strategic assertion of visibility and collective dignity.
We look forward to our next quarter focusing on post program work and beginning the planning for SikhLEAD 2026!
