Bringing the sangat together inside SikhiToTheMax and Sundar Gutka. Shared notes, paath together, and Nitnem together.
Story
Sangat is at the heart of Sikhi. Many of us do Nitnem on our own, but we are also part of a sangat. Our apps should help with both.
Millions of Sikhs already use SikhiToTheMax and Sundar Gutka. SikhiToTheMax puts Gurbani on screen in Gurdwaras around the world, including the live telecast from Sri Darbar Sahib. Sundar Gutka is used by 2.4 million people every year for their daily Nitnem.
But inside the apps, there is no way to connect with each other. We want to change that.
What we are building
- Notes on shabads. Write your own reflections on any shabad, and come back to them anytime.
- Share your notes. Pass on what a shabad taught you to family, friends, or your Gurdwara sangat.
- Paath together. Take part in a Sehaj Paath with others, each reading their share from wherever they are.
- Nitnem together. Join family or friends for Nitnem at the same time, even across cities and time zones.
- Shared shabad collections. Build a set of shabads for an Anand Karaj, a kirtan program, or a study circle, and share it with others.
- Hukamnama with family. Share the daily Hukamnama with your family group and reflect on it together.
- Gurdwara programs. Sevadars can share the shabad list for a program ahead of time, so the sangat can follow along on their phones.
Who this is for
A family spread across Surrey, Toronto, and Punjab doing Rehras Sahib together every evening. A youth group sharing what they learned from the week's shabad. A sangat completing a Sehaj Paath together for a loved one.
Why your support matters
These features take real engineering to build well, and to build with privacy first. Your dasvandh helps us:
- Design and build the sangat features in both apps
- Run the servers that keep notes and shared sessions in sync
- Keep them free for every Sikh, everywhere
- Protect the privacy of every user
Help us turn two apps used by millions into a place where the sangat comes together.
